Your day begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or preferred location. The first stop is the historic Thermopylae, where King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans made their heroic stand against the Persian army in 480 BC. Walk the grounds of this legendary battlefield and see the monument that immortalizes their sacrifice.
From here, the journey continues through the Thessaly lowlands, passing through towns steeped in history:
- Thebes, a city pivotal in Greek mythology and history.
- Lamia, with its acropolis that reflects Roman and Byzantine heritage.
- Trikala, a town with ancient roots near the remarkable Theopetra Cave, inhabited since prehistoric times.

A: While not extremely strict, appropriate dress is suggested out of respect: • Suggested for men: Long pants preferred (but shorts covering knees are acceptable) • Suggested for women: Skirts or pants below the knee, shoulders covered • Very short shorts or revealing clothing is not appropriate • Most monasteries provide wrap-around skirts if needed
